Craft Atelier Space Featured Artist: Thomas Mackenzie Brown, Ceramics
Artist Statement:
Thomas has dedicated his ceramics career to studying crystalline glazes specifically. His medium of choice is usually porcelain, and he typically creates his forms on the potter’s wheel. All of Thomas’ glazes are mixed from scratch, perfected throughout the past four decades.
Thomas Mackenzie Brown received both a BFA and MFA Degrees in Art with a specialization in technical ceramics in California. Beginning his crystalline glaze studies in 1983 with minimal available documentation, this technique quickly became his passion. A Career Art Instructor in California, his constant endeavor remains producing new, exciting colors and versions of crystalline glazed pieces that are well-made, beautiful to look at, and help add value to the understanding of form as it relates to crystalline and other glazes.
