Valerie Brussel Cooper is a California born Artist who is proud to make South Monterey County Ca, Hallandale Beach Fla. and Fayetteville Ar. are her homes; while she is spending most of her time in California. Her formal education is in Fashion Design- at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (F.I.D.M.) in Los Angeles, where she was a President’s Award Recipient in 1977. This gives her a strong foundation in textiles, which is the root and dominant medium of this Artist’s sculpted collages.
Ms. Cooper has spent many years refining her unusual technique to produce a fluid dance of texture and color. All of the textiles used in these multi-media assemblages and art to wear are hand painted by the artist. At present she is working subject matter that reflects the wonders of organic shapes of the sea and mountains.
